Dominica Island:
Dominica's Carnival, or 'The Real Mas', is a pre-Lenten festival, and usually falls in February or March each year. It is undeniably the most looked forward season in Dominica. It is hard to miss the enthusiasm and loyalty Dominicans show to their favorite calypsonian or pageant during the months leading up to the Calypso Final and the National Queen Show. Dominica's Carnival also highlights the traditional Old Time Mas, like the Sensay Costumes which was originated from West-African. The costume is made of frayed rope, leaves and other material, accompanied by a mask and often horn. The season climaxes with two days of "Jump Up - Carnival Monday and Tuesday", through the street in Roseau and in the different villages around the island.
