  How to Get Married in Dominica

Documents Required for Special Marriage License

1. Valid Passport, and Birth Certificate from each NOT baptismal.
2. A passport sized photo of each applicant is required.
3. A non-marriage certificate must be presented to ensure that applicants have never been married. (To receive non-marriage certificate, one must present a Baptismal and Birth Certificate at the Registry)
4. If married before, Decree of Divorce or Death Certificate of former spouse must be produced.
5. Completed application form "G" must be signed by both parties and witnessed by a Magistrate.
6. A completed Declaration Form must be signed by each party before a Commisionaer of Oath. $7.50 postage stamps must be affixed to each form.

Where copies of documents or translations are provided, they must be certified by a Notary Public. All forms must be properly signed and witnessed on behalf of Magistrate or Commissioner of Oaths, depending on the type of document.

Cost of Marriage Registration

• Price of Marriage License - EC$300.00 must be paid on submission of the above-listed documents. (No personal cheques are accepted).
• Marriages with the Registrar's Office - EC $30.00
• Marriages celebrated outside the Registrar's Offices will cost EC $100.00 plus a reasonable transportation fee.
• Lawyers fee for statuary declaration on marital status (inclusive of Affidavit) - EC $500.00

Time

If applicants abroad, one of them must reside in the Commonwealth of Dominica for two (2) day immediately preceding such application. A passport must be produced for inspection.

The form, fees and all the above documents must be returned to the Ministry of Community Development, Gender Affairs and Information duly signed and witnessed. The marriage licence will then be processed. A date and time for pickup of marriage licence will be communicated to you.

This licence must be presented to the Registrar at the time of the marriage ceremony.
