The Nature Island Literary Festival and Book Fair

An exciting weekend of readings, story-telling, performances, music, art and craft by internationally acclaimed and local writers and artists. Various workshops in screen writing, book illustration and creative writing and a workshop for children plus writing competitions, local cuisine and entertainment.
The event took a place from August 7th to 9th 2009 at the UWI Open Campus. Featured authors included Colin Channer of Jamaica; Marie-Elena John of Antigua; Rudy Langlais of the United States, but who has Dominican roots; Earl Lovelace of Trinidad and Tobago; Asha Lovelace, his film maker daughter; Aja of Barbados; Adrian Augier of St. Lucis, Janete Scobie of Dominica; Kwame Dawes of Ghana and Jamaica and many more. Also, at this year it was presented a dicussion of the Calypso lyrics with highlighting of Pat Aaron poetry.
Music was provided by the Sixth From Sisserou Singers, Giraudel Jing Ping Group, Jilana Fontaine, Freddie and Friends, Free Joseph, and others.
